PNEU-ROLL^™ Technology

PASCO’s PNEU-ROLL^™ series of air bearing separator rolls makes use of a stationary shaft and a thin film of pressurized air beneath a rotating shell. The air is supplied through channels in the shaft and exhausts through both ends of the shell which helps keep foreign contaminants and particles from building up inside the separator roll. Due to this the PNEU-ROLL^™ can be operated for extended periods of time with minimal maintenance, maximum uptime, and minimal air filtration required.

The air bearing technology that the PNEU-ROLL^™ uses has application advantages as well. The PNEU-ROLL^™ can support both radial and thrust loads. It can also support a high operation speed thanks to external air supplies. The PNEU-ROLL^™ also has minimal bearing torque, can withstand high or low operational temperature, and air is a non-contaminating lubricant, allowing the PNEU-ROLL^™ to be applied to almost any fiber spec.

The PNEU-ROLL^™ can be customized to fit any job or application. PASCO offers a wide variety of shapes and sizes for its PNEU-ROLL^™ air bearing separator rolls. Many larger rolls have fiber shields standard to stop yarns or fibers from falling behind the shell while smaller rolls have a small rear flange as part of the shells shape which serves the same purpose. The shells also come with a variety of coating options such as ceramics, chrome, or tungsten carbide all polished to the customers specified surface roughness.

The PNEU-ROLL^™ was built with a tough reliable design in mind, it doesn’t make use of any fragile permeable bearing materials. The rolls can tolerate being turned by hand even with no airflow and mild physical abuse without any performance effects. The PNEU-ROLL^™ can also handle sudden applications of high air pressure or extended application of high pressure with no damage. The PNEU-ROLL^™ is also capable of being repaired* by PASCO for extended and economical long-term operation.

*PASCO does not guarantee that all PNEU-ROLLS^™ can be repaired. Severely damaged rolls may not be repairable.

PASCO offers a full line of ball bearing separator rolls with grease lubrication. These are commonly available in 40mm and 50mm diameter(s). The ball bearing separator rolls are especially advantageous for high draw forces from heavy deniers or multiple wraps.

Customization

PASCO also can also make custom air or grease bearing rolls to the customers request. Existing designs could also be manufactured out of alternate materials such as stainless steel or aluminum, or simply have an alternative shell coating to customer specification.
